Home Makeover on a Budget: The Kitchen Part 3

Part  1 of the kitchen makeover

Part 2 of the kitchen makeover

Okay last week I had a plan of action for this makeover and this week I have been getting busy, cleaning and organising and actually doing the decluttering I talk about so much.

My goodness there was a lot of stuff for the tip/charity shop!

If you recall last week I promised to work super hard and come back this week with shopping list and a mood board and to show you my newly organised cupboards.

First things first I pulled together a moodboard with some key features that I wanted to purchase from Wilkinson’s on to give me a sense of how the room would look…

Wilkinsons Kitchen Makeover

My shopping list was HUGE . Replacements hadn’t been made on kitchen items for years not since we had married really and as our sponsor was Wilkinson where you can buy EVERYTHING for really good value prices. We basically restocked our kitchen. We bough

  • A huge blind
  • Wine glasses
  • Tumbler glasses
  • 4 mugs
  • A soap dispenser
  • Teal bowl
  • Heart shaped bopwl
  • Clear vase
  • Dinner set
  • Spotlights
  • Glass work top savers
  • Wooden salad bowl
  • Salad servers
  • Kiytchen roll holder
  • Cutlery tray
  • Dish drainer
  • Gauntlet
  • Clock
  • Teatowel set
  • Table runner
  • Kitchen scales
  • Storage set
  • Bread bin
  • A slow cooker
  • Baking trays
  • Oven trays
  • Roasting tin
  • Potato masher
  • Spaghetti spoon
  • 2 sandwich tins
  • Loaf tin
  • Coaster
  • Placemats
  • Chapati pan
  • Candle
  • 2 Travel mugs
  • 2 cutlery sets
  • Pizza Platter

Oh my goodness ! We managed to buy all this for just under £300 which I think shows just what exceptional value Wilkinson’s is. It feels like a completely fresh start.

I took my designer pal Jen ( interior stylist from Love Chic Living shopping with me and she gave me quite a lot of co-ordination guidance along the way and encouraged me to introduce a ‘pop of colour’ into my largely cream and white colour scheme. I was resistant but she explained this way if I want to change the mood of the kitchen I could just take out a few colourful accessories and change it in an instant.

We shopped so much we ended up with 3 trollies and had to call reinforcements to help us home.

The benefits of shopping in store rather than online are that you can see and touch what you want to buy and get an idea of size and how objects work together. I am glad we did it this way although the big kitchen bin was ordered online!

So now we have all the ‘stuff’ the painting is underway and I have been working hard and my cupboards are sorted…

Ta da! My bits and bobs cupboard is certainly looking a bit better than last week right!

Now there is a chance I can find the things I want!

So we are on our way.

There is more tidying to be done and the decorating to finish off and a lot of shopping to put away but next week we will be back with the final reveal.

I cannot wait!
