An Ascot Outfit on a Budget

Yesterday on my A Beautiful Space blog I shared an outfit I would love to wear to Royal Ascot 2014 if only I had a ticket (oh and plenty of cash).

It got me to wondering however if I could dress for Royal Ascot on a budget and you know what…. I think I have pulled it off.  I have gone for cool mint and pale blue as I adore the sea like combination and think it looks both calm and fresh.

An Ascot outfit on a budget
I took a rather arbitrary approach to shopping for this look. I totally had a colour scheme in mind, knew I wanted a dress, ballet pumps, earrings and a jacket so I just googled what I wanted and sought out items that came up that looked inexpensive! I found it easy to find good value accessories but not a cheap/expensive looking jacket.
Before buying any of the items I would also search for discount vouchers for the stores the items were at!
The outfit comes in at £82 and is classic enough to be worn at weddings and posh ‘do’s ‘ for years to come. The fascinator was just £5.99 which is an amazing bargain. Hats drive me mad even though Ascot hats are spectacular so fascinators all the way for me.
I opted for ballet pumps because in my experience a day at the races involves a lot of standing and jumping up and down in frustration and hopefully excitement too. Heels may look good but ouch!
Gosh all I need now is a ticket!

Pale blue is nice and an unexpected choice. I bet you would look very glamourous in this!

It’s great to see that you can still look good without spending a fortune and all from the high street too
