Auto Care for the Frequent Traveler

Balancing your professional and personal obligations can be a challenge. If you are constantly on the move, traveling for work or pleasure, it is even easier overlook an oil change or automotive tune-up. Here are some tips for preventing vehicular speed bumps while you travel

Travel With Your Records and Owner’s Manual
Make a habit of keeping your vehicle’s owner’s manual in your car. That way, you can locate and identify trouble with greater ease as it arises. Keeping a clear record of your previous repairs in your glove compartment is also a great help, in case concern pops up on the road. If a mechanic is able to review your vehicle’s history, he can formulate a more accurate diagnose of a problem.

Looking for a Repair Shop

From oil changes to inspections to even larger repairs, you should seek a mechanic who is A.S.E certified. The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence offers certification examinations twice a year, and the passing of this exam proves that the mechanic is skilled and reliable. Taking your car to an A.S.E. certified mechanic will give you the peace of mind and assurance that your vehicle will be well looked after. Whether you are stuck across state lines and your engine fails or you just need to update your Pennsylvania state inspection, make sure to research your options.

Keeping Everything up to Date
Remember, if you travel frequently, and especially if you take long road trips in the family car, you need to make sure your vehicle is all up to date on its annual tune-ups, oil changes and inspections. An ounce of prevention could be the difference between arriving at your destination happily, or being stranded on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere, hours after the last repair shop has closed. Keep your family road trips safe and uneventful with a little bit of planning.
