Well it has been a lovely summer week of sunshine here in Nottingham and the pretty summer dresses have been out in force. Sometimes I look at other peoples outfits and think ‘wow’ but just know they would not suit me. I’m 45 next month (yikes) and by now I think I know what works for me.
How to choose the right summer wardrobe for you though? Well I know a few tips and tricks that I would love to share with you. Here are my top 5.
I have to show you my new dress from JD Williams, it is such a fabulous colour. They do have a fabulous range of summer dresses. This yellow is bright, cheerful and happy and just perfect for a summers day. How could you ever not feel sunny in a dress like this!
Play to your assets
If you like your legs then show them off but if your arms are a tad wobbly perhaps avoid vest tops. Play up what you like the most and you will feel your most confident .
If you can pick say five words that define the style you enjoy the most then this can really help when picking new clothes. my words would be fresh, classic, preppy, pretty and plain ( not one for patterns me – unless it’s stripes) These five words really seem to define my style and help me choose what suits me and the rest of my wardrobe the best .
Have the right undies
White trousers and the wrong pants no, no, no! Bra straps showing under spaghetti strapped tops. No no no. Summer underwear needs to really be thought about!
Don’t be a slave to fashion
Wear what you like and look good in rather than what the shops and magazines tell you is cool. What is cool is you looking your best, feeling comfortable, accentuating your best bits. You know who you are and what you like to wear.
