Review: The Lion Classic Christmas Stories

I am a big believer in making Christmas special through experiences and traditions rather than spending money you don’t have on stuff that never makes the memory bank. Stories at Christmas become part of the magic of the season and fill children’s hearts and minds Long after they are grown up and are passed onto their children in turn.

The Lion Classic Christmas Stories by Mary Joslin is the kind of book you will read to your kids each year and a book they will one day inherit to read to theirs. It is a lovely hardback book filled with stunning folk art images and it tells some wonderful 14 tales.

The Lion Classic Christmas Stories It costs around £7-£10

The collection include the stories of the nativity, the nutcracker, Babushka and The Little Fir Tree and others I don’t know like The Old Violin and Little Piccola. These are all classics though and there is something about a traditional tale that just warms the heart.

I think this is a superb book to have and to read to your children from during December. Stories are a  magical part of childhood and Christmas. It’s not all about presents its about presence too.

Storytelling is a lovely way to ‘be’ with your kids.

Folk stories are dying out if you ask me. So anything that keeps tradition going within a family is a good thing. Will be checking out this book as a Christmas pressie for my boys, who love all sorts of stories x
