What I am up to this week…

I might be smiling now but at 11pm last night when I found this site didn’t show up on mobile I wasn’t! Now resolved, it was some rogue plug in ..but oh what a panic!  My kids went back to school yesterday so it was a flurrying, hurrying day all around really.

A busy week so far and to come but a good one. Blogging certainly brings diversity. let me tell you what i have been up to and what is still to come this week

Encouraging children to speak up

Today I am over on the super speak blog with a collection of fabulous blogger sharing tips for encouraging children to speak in public…do you want to hear my tip?

Speak to family on the phone

I have always encourage my children  to share their news by calling up their grandparents and putting them on the phone for a few minutes. They have found this y easier over time and it helps them communicate more clearly. I go through the conversation with them first e.g Why don’t we call GG (great grandma) then you could tell her you got 9 out of 10 in your spelling test and perhaps you could tell her what your teacher said about it and how you feel.  I find sharing their stories encourages their confidence, focus and clarity when talking.

To hear a whole host of other great tips do have a look at How to help your child be a better public speaker

Twitter party Time

Tomorrow (Wednesday 22 April) I am hosting a twitter party for SightSavers sharing their #imagine2030 campaign

39million

people around the world are blind

80%

of this can be cured or prevented

Sightsavers work tirelessly to help those who are blind unnecessarily. It is a fabulous charity. This year, world leaders will agree global goals on poverty and the environment that’ll dictate what the world could look like in 2030.

The twitter party will focus on dreams for 2030 what do we want from the future for ourselves and for the world and how will we make it happen. Please join us in focussing on our future.

I want people to be full of kindness and for that to be our highest aspiration for our children

You can commit your dream to writing in Sightsavers image generator here (above is mine) and PLEASE do join us at 11 – 11.30 tomorrow on Twitter #imagine2030   I will be tweeting from @babybudgeting

Blog Camp

I will be speaking this week at blog camp run by Tots100 as the best free blogging conference in the UK. I love blog camps run by Tots, they are small, friendly and always really informative. I will be talking about how to make blogging  a business with Penny Alexander from Parent Shaped and A residence

We will be sharing our journey to becoming professional bloggers, explaining what that job looks like and sharing tips and insights from our experience.

Here we are at a previous blog camp event being so ‘professional!’

Decluttering project

I would love for you to follow me on instagram where I have been madly decluttering for weeks and weeks by just taking 10 things everyday from my house and trying to do this before 10am. Keeping it quick, small and simple has helped me keep the momentum. Occasionally other people join me with their clutter on the hashtag #10by10am come and join us if you need to minimalise and simplify too !

 Cooking

I have been wanting to try my hand at cooing for ages. I have just share a post on must have ingredients in French cuisine so I had beeter get to it!

That is a great tip for getting the children talking. My girls can be painfully shy, so am going to try this!

As for decluttering …. when you are finished, can you come round to mine šŸ˜‰

That is a great tip Becky and we have always done it too. I love the idea of decluttering too I could so do this as we have so much stuff that needs getting rid of

You do have a busy week! I love your decluttering plan – we have just moved and I am determined not to let the clutter take over here by doing similar to you – dealing with a bit daily rather than letting it mount up!

Goodness, you are a busy bee! I’ll be at the Twitter party and I will be decluttering – thanks for the inspiration! Public speaking is such an important skill to pass on – we are lucky to have an active Lions’ Club in our town and my two eldest both took part in public speaking competitions a few years ago with schools from our local area and then with schools from across the county – it was wonderful to see them grown in stature!

  8. You’re always such an inspiration Becky – heaven knows how you fit it all in. Oh I know, it’s coz you make room with your de-cluttering! šŸ˜‰ Will look out for the IG thread now, thank you.

That’s such a gorgeous pic of you Becky, you look beautiful and I LOVE the starry top. You’re a busy little bee this week, no?! Crikey! I’m afraid I will likely be in bed when your Twitter chat is happening, but I’ll be sure to tweet about it in advance and try to encourage some participation. I wonder how long your 10 by 10 is going to take? It’s such a good idea for doing it gradually – probably much more effective than my annual clear outs!

Wow you have been busy. I love the tip about speaking on the phone, and you know with the advances in the internet it isn’t something my children do. Their great grandparents live really far away too so I shall get them to do that – thank you.

Look forward to seeing you again on Saturday šŸ™‚
