I have never used a soup maker before so I was both excited and a tad nervous to review the VonShef jug soup maker from Domu. It looked pretty straightforward to use and was unintimidating – hurray!. It was the size of a kettle and the instructions were clear so I set to work straight away.
I looked at few soup recipes online to get a general ideas and decided to have a go at my own using what I had in my fridge. That’s the beauty of soup isn’t it you can use it bits and bobs in it really easily and avoid waste.
Creamy broccoli soup
I had lots of unused veg in the fridge so simply grabbed 1/3 of a head of broccoli, a large potato and a small red onion. I copped all of these into 2 cm cubes and added them to the metal jug I also used 2 tablepsoons of quark (no fat soft cheese) and 500ml of water. I like smooth rather than chunky soup (tough there is that option too) so \I simply set the soup maker to smooth and it does all the rest , the chopping, blending and heating.
That’s it, it really could not be easier.
25 minutes later it was done. Delicious! A really healthy winter warmer.
The soup maker can also act as blender for juices and purees so it is really useful multi functional kitchen gadget.
