Beautify Your Bedroom Décor with these top tips
Your bedroom should be your sanctuary, offering you a refuge from the stresses of the day. You want your space to be welcoming and beautiful. Even if you’re in a rental where you can’t paint the walls, there are things you can do to create a beautiful space.
Beautify Your Bedroom Décor
If you’re ready to transform your space, here are six ways you can beautify your bedroom décor in a weekend.
1. Bring Life to the Place
One of the easiest ways to make your bedroom décor beautiful is to bring in some plants. Not only do plants bring a splash of color and life into the room, but they also work as a natural air purification system. Plants naturally absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. By keeping plants in your bedroom, they essentially clean the air in the space. However, keeping plants in your bedroom do more than just clean the air. They also help brighten the room. You can simply use smaller plants on your nightstand or dresser or opt for a larger plant, or series of medium-size plants, kept in the corner, to add some life to the room. A hidden benefit to keeping house plants in your bedroom is that the process of taking care of them can actually help reduce stress levels.
2. Mix and Match Textures
Another easy way to help beautify your bedroom décor is to play with textures. This can be done using bedspreads, throws, pillows, and rugs. Having things in your space that look interesting to touch can help make your space feel both cozy and soothing. Using a single texture can make your bedroom feel cold and sterile. By using a variety of different textures it creates visual interest in your space but also makes it feel inviting. Add a textured throw over the corner of your bed, incorporate a textured area rug into the space, use a variety of small pillows with different colors and fabrics to bring that subtle complexity to your space.
3. Don’t Be Afraid of a Little Color
Most designers will tell you to stick with soft colors for a bedroom as they are more relaxing. However, your room should be a reflection of who you are as a person. In other words, if you like bold colors, then go ahead and incorporate them. One way to do this, without it being overwhelming, is to pick a specific color scheme and stick to it. It is important to not incorporate too many different colors (that’s where the overwhelming feeling comes in). Instead, rather, stick to two main colors and two neutral colors. This will help the whole room feel as though it comes together. Another tip is to keep your bold colors to your accent pieces. So perhaps you picked white, navy, yellow and green as your color scheme. Use the neutral colors (in this case white and navy) as the main color in your rug, curtains, and duvet. Then stick with the pops of colors with the other things in your room, such as your dresser, lamp, accessories, pillows, and so forth. This will help keep the color from getting to be too much and create a cohesive look.
4. Dress Up the Dresser
This may be the most fun way to make your bedroom décor beautiful that is often overlooked. Your dresser can easily be modified to give your room a new look. This is especially helpful if your dresser is starting to look a little drab and needs a little TLC. The quickest way to dress up your dresser is to simply find some small bowls, trays, stands, baskets, etc. to catch everything that sits on the top of your dresser. This can help you stay organized but also adds that little bit of extra color and style to your space. If that still doesn’t do it for you, you can change the look of your space by simply changing the drawer pulls. Looking for a glam look? Go with pulls that look like crystals. Is a nautical theme more your style? Swap out your existing drawer pulls with small brass rings. If you’re not ready to change your hardware, there’s also the option of painting your dresser a new bold color that matches your color scheme. You could also avoid the mess that comes with paint and cover each drawer with contact paper in a pattern or color that matches the style of your new bedroom décor—a quick and easy option to get an entirely new look.
5. Pay Attention to the Floor
Keeping your space neat and organized is one of the key things you can do to make your space feel inviting and relaxing. The best way to do this is to pay attention to the floor. Do what you can to keep your floor as empty as possible. The more floor space you can see, the better your space will feel. This doesn’t just mean making sure yesterday’s jeans make it into the hamper. This means making sure there is visual space under your ottoman, your bench, and even your dresser. If your existing furniture rests on the floor and you want to increase your visual floor space you can easily pick up a set of casters, feet, or legs from your local home improvement store, to give you the little bit of height that you need. Another important thing to pick up is baskets. Baskets can be a great way to store extra blankets and pillows, to catch everything out of your pockets, etc. The point is to visually keep everything put away. This helps your space feel larger and gives that relaxed feeling that is expected from a beautiful bedroom. You can read more about all of this at House Tipster.
6. Find the Right Lighting
The whole mood and vibe of your décor can be ruined by having bad lighting. You aren’t doomed to the harsh white light that comes in your apartment. Having the right light can make all the difference. In fact, you may even want to consider having multiple lighting options in your bedroom for different purposes. For instance, if you have a four-poster bed you will want a big light next to your bed for adequate lighting, but if your bed is lower to the ground, a small lamp on a nightstand may be sufficient. You may also find that it is helpful to include reading lights attached to your bed for those late-night reading sessions, as well as a larger lamp in the corner for diffused lighting when you need the entire room lit.
Planning Required
Having a beautiful space doesn’t have to be difficult, but it does require some planning. For instance, you need to know what it is you want to do in your bedroom, what your limitations are, what color scheme you want, determine your budget, etc. Once all of this is planned you can easily transform your bedroom’s entire décor over the weekend. The best part about these tips is that they can be used whether you own your home or if you rent with limitations of hanging things on the wall, painting, etc. Ultimately, if you get creative, you can quickly and easily have a beautiful space that you can’t wait to retire to after a long day in the office or chasing the kids all day.
