Oh it’s a choice many women (and some men) have to face. I was very clear that i wanted to be home with my baby rather than out social working (it was a tad stressful!) but financially it wasn’t an easy choice at all. We managed with a big tightening of our belts and a lot of help from family and friends but at no point was a straightforward ride financially.
That 90% drop out of their career at some point to do some family care is quite a shocking figure to me!
