Cabin Beds Vs Bunk Beds

Cabin beds

Cabin beds are made specifically to provide an elevated bed that offers space-saving benefits. For rooms that are small and have limited floor space, a cabin bed is an excellent choice. Providing ample room underneath the structure of the bed for additional furnishings, floor space for games and toys, as well as study space for older children.

Some cabin beds will be designed with additional features such as built-in desks, drawers, and seating areas underneath the main sleeping area of the bed. Much like a bunk bed, cabin beds will typically feature a ladder or step for children to easily access the raised bed.

Bunk beds

Bunk beds, on the other hand, hold two beds with one on top of the other. This design is incredibly practical for families with multiple children who may be sharing a bedroom. Whether this is for space-saving reasons or by choice, a bunk bed is an excellent option for children’s bedrooms that provides enough sleeping space for two children without taking up too much floor space.

While cabin beds and bunk beds are fairly similar, some of the advantages they do offer families and children can differ slightly.

The advantages of cabin beds

Elevated from the ground, providing floor space underneath the mattress, a cabin bed provides plenty of room for additional furnishings and fittings that may typically not fit into the child’s bedroom. This is a great space-saving solution, particularly for box rooms and single bedrooms where children may have limited floor space for their own furniture, toys, games and more.

With this design cabin beds also provide the option for plenty of room re-organisation and modernisation. This means that cabin beds can grow with young children, passing through the many phases of childhood, with the underneath storage having a number of uses as the children grow older. This could include playing and studying.

The advantages of bunk beds

The key advantage of bunk beds is that they offer the ability to provide sleeping arrangements for two children in one piece of furniture. Aside from this however, bunk beds are also incredibly versatile and allow for children to let their imagination run wild. Not only providing a comfortable and cosy place to sleep but also an enjoyable place to play. One day the bunk bed could be your children’s fairytale castle and the next, their pirate ship.

Most often made using solid hardwood, bunk beds are also very sturdy and will hold the weight of two children, even as they grow into pre-teens. Making them a worthwhile investment for children’s bedrooms.

Depending on your family’s needs both a bunk bed and a cabin bed are excellent bed frames for children’s bedrooms and are both practical, sturdy, and durable. Sure to last many years.
