today – fun ideas for Easter weekend in lockdown
This is a funny old Easter, isn’t it.
We would normally see family and friends, have a day out, perhaps go to church, definitely eat out at some point, maybe head to the seaside.
Hmm, none of those are options this year so I have been racking my brain for other frugal fun ideas that will still make it eggstra special for my family.
Fun ideas for Easter weekend in lockdown
Your Easter can still be amazing and filled with family fun – you just need to get creative. Let me share some of our plans with you.
A family sports day (hour)
We are going to knock over cans with a tennis ball, do an egg and spoon race, 3 legged race..maybe a potato into a hula hoop throw down. No-one knows it yet but I have a great family sports showdown planned!
A family sing-along over zoom
No less than 5 groups form with our family have all been learning the same songs and we are going to perform them together with guitars and pianos played too on Easter Sunday. Could be a musical masterpiece or it could go horribly wrong. We have learned the following songs:
- Let it be
- Country roads
- and my favourite Mad World.
We have never yet practised together (yikes!)
A family scavenger hunt
Working at the same times as their cousins on Whats-app I am going to give all the kids an Easter Scavenger Hunt to complete.
Items will include:
- an easter egg
- a flower
- an actual egg (unbroken)
- a drawing of the Easter Bunny ( by them)
- a feather
- and 3 different colour leaves
Wonder who will finish first?
Egg decorating
We have to create someone famous out of our egg and see who can guess it?
We will share this not only with each other but also our friends via various technology to see who gets it right!
Baking!
Each day of the week at 11 my dear friend Emily Leary from A Mummy Too blog does a live bake along on Facebook for kids and parents. You can join in HERE
The other day she made soda bread, and yesterday we made her lemon drizzle cake (lush)
Over on her multi-award-winning food blog, you will also find an awesome recipe for vegan hot cross buns – do have a go this weekend, we will be, they look delicious!
I do hope these fun ideas for Easter weekend in lockdown have inspired you.

Some good ideas – it must be hard being stuck indoors with children. Mine are all grown up now. Have a lovely Easter!
