Home Makeover on a Budget: The Lounge (Part 1) Sponsored by Achica
As you probably know I have 2 kids aged 5 and 8 and we both work from home in a smallish 3 bedroomed house. J works in the loft and I work in a corner of the kitchen. We have busy lives and by nature neither of us are tidy or any good at all at DIY. Hence the mess our home is in. Hence the need for a budget makeover
It made sense to start our budget makeover in the lounge
The lounge is the room where we entertain the most, it is the least bad state of all the rooms and it is where we spend a large part of our time relaxing. It is really important this room looks nice. When redesigning your lounge, be sure to check out some good home shopping catalogues online stores, local shops flea markets and basically a variety of places to see what inspires you.
Nothing was absolutely dreadful about this room but it was looking very shabby and because it was looking very shabby we were treating it very shabbily. Have you noticed how life works like that. If you have an untidy cupboard you just throe stuff in. If it is neat and tidy you place things in carefully. I always dress better if I have had my hair done. Like begets like.
Home Makeover on a Budget: The Lounge (Part 1)
So yes our room was shabby. The paint all marked and blinds dusty, wires sticking out everywhere and TOO MANY TOYS!!! (ignore the crazy kid check out how messy it is!)
We had just sort of stopped taking care of it. It hadn’t been painted in 8 years and we just kept on adding stuff. Unloved, cluttered and in need of a freshen up and some style inspiration.
It was looking quite dark and gloomy too.
