Is car care important?

In my opinion our cars are a bit like our bodies. We need to take care of them if we expect them not to break down or function below par.

Do you care for your car?

There are many things we prioritise over others and buying something shiny and new and booking a holiday does seem far more exciting don’t they than servicing a car!

As a nation, we aren’t great on preventative measures but quite seriously – negligence towards your car can have devastating consequences!

Safety concerns

People often ignore or are unaware of the effects the weather has on the vehicles. Car care is equally important, for a peaceful lifestyle and a stress-free drive it’s a must that you take action in time.

The potential damages care two-fold. You risk life and limb to yourself and others if your car is not road worthy and able to withstand the weather. Skids and slides and break down can cause accidents that are too awful to even consider. For the safety of every one – car care needs to be actioned.

Car maintenance

Cars can be badly damaged if their basic maintenance and care is neglected. Running out of oil or water can also have dire consequences for your car and for you being stranded. Do make sure you keep it in good condition it can be a very expensive mistake not too.

Preventive measures need to include:

  • Oil and Engine check on regular basis – this should be done at least once a month!
  • Tyre maintenance and replacement – tyres should last 25,000 – 50,000 miles  but you need to keep an eye on their tread
  • Check for battery functioning – on average car batteries should last 5 -10 years but extreme cold or heat can shorten a battery’s life.
  • MOT testing to assure a safer drive – these need to be done yearly with service in between

If you live in the Wakefield area, Ossett Tyre House can provide an MOT check and I am sure wherever you live you will find local car servicing and repair stations to do this. It is not a huge outlay to keep on top of your car care but if you neglect to do so then the consequences really can be devastating.
