Discovery Channel Digital Metal Detector Review

the benefits of Metal detecting for kids, Discovery Channel Digital Metal Detector Review

Oh, I have always fancied doing a bit of metal detecting and love the idea of unearthing a wodge of treasure, a whole heap of gold coins to keep us in our old age. Wouldn’t that be awesome!

I was asked if I would be interested in supporting a campaign being run by Trends UK which highlights science is not just for boys, but that girls can love it too.

Absolutely would I!

There is a lot of coverage in the media saying girls have less interest in science and don’t choose it as a career. Queen of the science blogs for kids Emma Vanstone would tell you different. Her amazing blog Science Sparks which shares science ideas with kids recently tipped 5 million followers on Google +!  Blimey.

Her readers can’t all be parents of boys.

TrendsUk sent me a couple of great items to review with my kids and they included  one of the much longed for discovery channel metal detectors

How to set it up

Always important set ups are easy as I am way to busy for complicated. This was simple to set up it just took a 9-volt battery. There is a simple easy to follow instruction book but to be honest we did not even need it.  The handle is easy  to use as is the senor ( you set the sensitivity to suit the environment you are detecting in.) The screen shows you exactly where you are hunting and the beeps alert you to any possible findings!

Our metal detecting experience

Both kids (I have a boy and a girl) thought it was great fun and immediately set about metal detecting in the garden. They quickly found a few coins their dad had just buried …beep beep beep. But then……it started beeping madly in an area where daddy hadn’t put anything. We all got just SO excited and after a bit of digging, we found…..

It may not be worth anything at all but it was thrilling to dig it up …we thought maybe it was a huge sword!

The excitement had been huge and we cannot wait to take our metal detector to a beach and get digging for pirate treasure and to become very very rich!

Benefits of a kids metal detector

What fun a metal detector is and the benefits of a kids metal detector just go on and on! Here are some of my favourites.

A metal detector is a great way to get a child outdoors and exploring it adds to their interest stops them moaning that walks are boring.

Plus the very potential of the treasure you may possibly find is just so exciting. It’s a good way to explore with kids the history of an area and how people used to live and what we might find from their era.

A  Summary Review of the Discovery Metal Detector

In summary, they loved it and it seems to all of us to have a huge amount of potential …we are very excited about this new addition to our outdoor toys, it just promises adventure!

I do hope you have enjoyed my  Discovery Channel Digital Metal Detector Review and my exploration into the benefits of a kids metal detector. Let me know if you try one how you got on and if you found anything amazing.

I like the design of Discovery Channel Digital Metal Detector for kids. This detector is great fun for kids. Kids can easily find few coins in garden where’s he or she digging and it make them excited to haunt these coins. I like this article and I would like to gift a detector to my grandson. For this I need more information about this detector.
