I am very excited to tell you that a new series is launching today on my Family-Budgeting blog called Home Makeover on a Budget. You can see it has it’s own little Home Makeover category and everything.
For the last 8 years since I had my son we have been living largely on one wage and there has been no spare money. During that time the kids needs have been met but my home’s needs have not and it is looking sadly neglected and decidedly shabby. We have not decorated, redesigned or update our home in any way over the last 8 years and it’s time to sort it out.
I know makeovers don’t have to cost a fortune. there are ways to make significant changes on a budget. But I am a novice at this so it is going to be a long learning journey (but an exciting one!)
I have a style consultant helping, Jen from Love Chic Living who will be sharing some great tips with us all (Luckily for me Jen is a very good friend so in this instance her advice is free!)
I have been gathering in tools to help me clean and sort. I have been looking for a great carpet cleaner and the one I found on erento looks brilliant. I have also been gathering bin bags and I have a pack of dusters at the ready. De-cluttering and cleaning are going to be a big part of these makeovers and they are big jobs in this house with lots and lots to sort out.
Here are the rooms I am planning to makeover:
Lounge
Kitchen
Playroom conservatory
2 kids bedrooms
Our bedroom
Hall
I think the makeover in total will take all of 2013 but I would love to be done by next Christmas and I think it is achievable. I hope you will join me on my home makeover on a budget series. There are going to be lots of tips (and probably tears) along the way!
Let’s bring some order and style to this shabby, happy chaos!
Disclosure: Througout the Homebudget makeover series there will be occasional commercial links and content
Great idea, we’ve been slowly doing our whole house up with a limited budget. Maybe i can give you some pointers along the way. Can’t wait to see what you tackle first. Good luck!
Thats fab Jenni I would love some pointers. We are not at all practical and its almost all going to be cosmetic but I still do not have a clue!
