Where is the best place to retire in Great Britain? I have been wondering this lately.
I am 5o this year and time is marching on! A couple of my friends have either retired or started to hint they may do as in the next couple of years. I am a bit jealous and it has most definitely given me pause for thought.
For me retirement is quite a way off sadly. I had my kids in my mid to late thirties and I have a fair few milestones to fund them through first including university and driving lessons. I don’t think, however, that It is too far off to start thinking about and planning for.
I think it is important to dream about it and plan for it and research where, when I retire, I might most want to live when it is time to finally breathe!

Age Co have recently co-created a report based on the most popular up-and-coming towns to move to when you retire
The report discovered that almost 50% of people would consider relocating when they retire. Age Co wanted to find out which UK retirement towns are most appealing and why. To do this, they conducted a survey asking respondents retirement and pension related questions and what they plan to do once they have retired. They also showed them the 10 the most up-and-coming UK retirement towns and had them rated them in terms of popularity looking at various factors.
Dreamy Dorset
It is no surprise at all to me that the no.1 retirement town in terms of popularity was in Christchurch in Dorset where currently 30% of the population are retired. The air is clean, the sea is near and London is a train ride away. How perfect.
Wonderful Wales
3 of the best places to retire in the UK are in Wales. I just love Wales. It has it all, gorgeous countryside, a laid back lifestyle, awesome air and the prettiest#beaches. It definitely makes my top 10.
Active Ambleside
Ambleside in the Lake District also ranks high on the list and I have visited there in the past. All that walking and countryside wouldn’t be for me though – the sea calls for my retirement. I envisage fires on the beach, long walks in the sand and grandchildren too.
