Why Now is the Perfect Time to Further Your Education

Whether you’ve always wanted to be a nurse, you’re looking to advance in your career and make more money, or you simply have a love of learning, it is probably fair to say that there has never been a better time to further your education than right now. Here’s why:

Education has Never Been More Accessible

In the past, if you wanted to further your education, you would often have to travel quite far to sit in a specific room to work on a specific qualification. You would also have to unless you were lucky enough to get a grant, have to spend a lot of money on the process too.

Today, mostly thanks to the internet, it has never been more convenient or affordable to get yourself educated. You can do an online masters degree in education, learn to be an accountant via distance learning or complete an access  course with the Open University from the comfort of your own home, in your own time at your own pace, and all for much less than you might have one paid (in most cases anyway). It’s truly amazing.

The Job Market is Extremely Tough

If you’ve tried to find work in the past few years, you’ll know just how tough the job market is now. There are so many people chasing work that the employers can afford to be pickier and being picky they are. Sometimes, it seems like you need to have a first class degree just to get an entry-level job. So, if you want to get ahead and get a job, not really is a good time to increase your knowledge, boost your skill set and make yourself a better candidate all round.

There are Skills Shortages

Although the job market is tougher than ever, there are still a lot of areas where there is a shortage of skills, and many of them are fairly well paid. For example, in much of the UK, there is a distinct lack of teachers, engineers of various kinds, forensic psychiatrists and a whole host of other highly sought after positions. If you can retrain to fill one of those roles, you can pretty much guarantee yourself a fulfilling job in the UK where you will make money.

Educated Parents Raise Educated Children

Lots of research has shown that the more highly educated the parent, the better the child will do, so if you have a family right now, then increasing your education level will have a knock-on effect, helping your children to achieve more in the future. So, if you’ve ever wanted to train as an engineer, or become an architect, you have an even better reason to do so now than you did before.

So, as you can see, there are a lot of pretty compelling reasons to further your education at this moment in time. If you have the drive and motivation, don’t let things like student loans put you off – find a way to do what you want, and you and your family will benefit as a result.
