Activities For Families in Leeds

Leeds is a vibrant, multicultural city in West Yorkshire with a rich industrial history. It’s also one of the biggest cities in the UK with plenty of attractions for all ages, including families with children. Here are some of the activities that families can enjoy in Leeds.

Arcade Club

For gamers big and small, the Arcade Club in Kirkstall, just outside Leeds city centre, is perfect for a family day out. A short train ride will take you to your destination, where you can experience wall-to-wall arcade machines, including classics like pinball, spread across three floors. Family tickets are available and once inside, all the games are free to play. You can also grab something to eat, with family favourites like pizza, nachos, and hot dogs on the menu along with a selection of drinks.

Go Karting

For a family day out with a difference, why not hit the road and spend the day whizzing around a 580m go-kart track? Perfect for kids who dream of driving their own car, a day out at Leeds’ very own indoor go-kart arena, is a great way for families to have some fun and indulge in a bit of healthy competition as they race their karts around the track.

Tropical World

Tropical World is located in Roundhay Park, Leeds, which is made up of 700 acres of parkland including lakes, woodlands, gardens, and playgrounds. Tropical World offers a memorable journey through a rainforest, mangroves, and a desert all just outside of Leeds city centre. It’s home to a wide variety of animals, including meerkats, monkeys and crocodiles, as well as exotic birds, snakes and butterflies to name just a few. There’s also a café, with a children’s menu and a souvenir shop.

The Thackray Museum

Perfect for those with kids who love Horrible Histories or have their hearts set on a career in medicine, the Thackray Museum of Medicine tells the inspiring (and sometimes grisly) story of medical history from the Victorian era to the present day. Combining learning with plenty of hands-on, immersive exhibitions, the museum makes a great family day out. Located right next to St James’s Hospital, it’s easily accessible by car or regular buses from Leeds city centre and if you live locally, the museum also offers free entry on Mondays for anyone living or working in Harehills.

Trampoline Park

For an energetic day out, bounce over to Gravity’s trampoline park in Leeds. With 1-hour Open Jump sessions available throughout the day, you can bounce your time away on the wall-to-wall trampolines or use the activity areas like the dodgeball court or slam dunk zone. It isn’t just for the kids, either – adults can get bouncing too! The park also holds special bounce sessions for parents with toddlers and inclusive SEN sessions for those with special needs.
