This new campaign is urging consumers to take back control of their energy costs and to switch energy suppliers during the weekend of the 15th and 16th March when there will be an exit fee “amnesty” weekend.

At the moment energy companies are charging consumers up to £150 to switch suppliers, with almost one third of energy customers being unaware of these exit fees.

The campaign is already being supported by nPower and EDF energy- two of the country’s largest energy suppliers.

Did you know that simply by switching suppliers consumers could potentially save  an average of £350 a year

Paul Galligan Managing Director at comparethemarket.com says, “

‘We are delighted to be partnering with the Daily Mirror for the Great British Switch. The energy market is in need of a real shake up, and ensuring as many people switch as possible is one way to do this. Eight out of 10 consumers have never switched provider and as a consequence, they have the opportunity to make massive savings. We’ve therefore made the switching process as simple as possible, putting consumers back in control of their energy bills.”
