Comics at Car Boot Sales
Hours of pleasure for the price of a bar of chocolate!
Car boot sales can be a goldmine for comic book collectors or just a fun way to pick up cheap reads. Here’s a quick guide to getting the most out of hunting for comics at car boot sales:
🔎 Why Car Boot Sales Are Great for Comics
-
Hidden treasures: Sellers often clear out lofts/garages, so you may find old collections.
-
Low prices: Comics can be much cheaper than in shops or online.
-
Variety: Anything from superhero classics to British weeklies (like Beano, Eagle, or 2000 AD) may turn up.
-
Bargaining: Prices aren’t fixed, so you can negotiate.
🛒 Tips for Finding the Good Stuff
-
Arrive early – Dealers and collectors usually snap up the best finds first.
-
Check condition – Look for creases, tears, missing pages, or water damage.
-
Ask sellers – Sometimes comics aren’t displayed but are in boxes under the table.
-
Bundle deals – Offer to buy a stack rather than individual issues for a discount.
-
Know what you’re looking for – Familiarize yourself with key titles, first appearances, or valuable runs.

We have an entire cupboard full of these and they get read over and over again – you can’t beat the Beano (just watch out for those dodges!).

Thanks for linking up Becky.
I’m particularly liking the ‘draw your own’ book. Maybe he’ll create his on multi-million dollar super hero and look after his old ma in her old age ;0)
Now that would be a good investment!
Brilliant finds. The cartoon drawing book looks fun for the rainy days
It does indeed!
I remember reading Beano and Dandy annuals over and over again as a child – especially when I was of school sick and mum made me stay in bed!! So good to see they are still being enjoyed. 🙂
He lives for Weds when its beano day!
