How to go the extra mile for your kids

One of the finest episodes of The Simpsons ever written is a little story about dentistry. Shocked by the cost of braces for Lisa, Homer leads the power plant where he works on a general strike until Mr Burns agrees to give his workers a free dental plan.

The episode isn’t only fantastic because of the sheer number of jokes that land, although it packs plenty of gags into its lean 22-minute runtime, but because it adeptly illustrates the lengths a parent will go to in order to make sure their children receive the best life experience possible.

We can relate. We’re always on the hunt for the best quality services for our kids at an affordable price. They might not appreciate the lengths we’ve gone to now, but we hope they will when they get older.

To help you do the same, we’ve compiled a small selection of products that we’ve found that’ll help give your child the best youth possible. Take a look below to see what we’ve come up with.

How to go the extra mile for your kids

  1. Clear braces

Some children are experts when it comes to mockery, revelling in their ability to find the weakness of a person and bully them mercilessly for it.

It’s why many kids are reluctant to have their crooked teeth fixed when they enter their teenage years. Don’t fix them and they’ll be made fun of for the state of their teeth. Fix them and they’ll be mocked for wearing braces. It’s a no-win situation in the short term. But as a parent, you know they’ll appreciate having straight teeth when they get older.

Thankfully clear braces have removed some of the stigma surrounding having your teeth straightened.

Things have changed dramatically since the railroad braces of yore. These new aligners, available from Portman Clear Braces, are near-invisible, removing any of the self-consciousness that comes with having your teeth straightened. They’re perfect if you want to remove one more target from your child’s back as they get older.

  1. Private tuition

State schools can be fantastic depending on the quality of the staff. But they also have their limits. With some schools fit to burst, it can be difficult for even the best teacher in the world to give their students the help they need.

Enter private tuition, a useful salve for struggling students. A private tutor can give your child an additional push, helping them cram for their exams and get amazing results.

There are plenty of private tuition companies out there, but one of the best is First Tutors, which plays host to some of the best tutoring professionals on the market.

  1. A private study

If you’re lucky enough to have a spare room, then there’s no point leaving it lying empty. Instead, turn it into a private study room for your child. With a space specifically allotted for their studies, your kid will be able to dedicate plenty more time to personal growth without distractions.
