Benidorm is the most visited resort in Spain and though its reputation might be off-putting for some people, the area continues to attract visitors especially in the summer months. Benidorm’s biggest attraction are its beaches but recently people have been attracted by theme parks, golf courses and the new amphitheatre, which has become a cultural centre in the town offering free activities. Although the New Town might be a symbol of tourist expansion and a centre for British holidaymakers, the Old Town still has a traditional Spanish feel.
The beach facilities in Benidorm are impressive, with excellent water quality and immaculate golden sand that is cleaned on a daily basis. Some beaches even have their own libraries where sunbathers can read foreign newspapers free of charge! The resort is a perfect location for family holidays as there are a wide-range of attractions aimed at children including waterparks, theme parks and wildlife centres.
One of the most popular of these family attractions is the Mundomar Sealife and Animal Park situated in Rincon de Loix, Benidorm. The park has an incredible array of animals to see and daily shows and encounters taking place. Children will be excited to watch the dolphins in action and marvel at the park’s exotic birds. The park can be reached by buses that run every 30 minutes on a weekday and every 5-10 minutes on a weekend. If you’ve ever wanted to swim with dolphins then you can have your wish at Mundomar but beware that this costs extra and you need to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
