The Top 5 Ways to Keep your Kids Safe on Holiday

Ways to Keep your Kids Safe on Holiday

There is nothing better than finally jetting off on that family holiday you’ve been looking forward to. A time to relax, unwind and enjoy the sun, sea and sand with your loved ones – it’s the highlight of the year! So that you can all enjoy your fun in the sun, it’s important to ensure that you take steps to ensure your children are safe abroad. Here are 5 ways to keep your children safe on holiday.

Pack Plenty of Sun Cream

Take plenty of high factor sun cream and make sure you apply it to your kids regularly. It might be hard to get them to stop for a few minutes in the midst of the fun, but it’s really important to protect their delicate skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays. Ensure you apply it everywhere that is not covered up by their clothes!

Stay Hydrated

Make sure your kids drink water regularly throughout the day to avoid dehydration. Research where you are going beforehand – there are many countries where you can’t drink water straight from the tap. You may need to stock up on local bottled water and it is always an idea to do this as soon as you touch down, so you don’t go thirsty for long periods!

Stay Together

It may seem obvious to stay together, but in large crowded places it can unfortunately be very easy to get separated. Make sure you keep an eye on your kids all the time, we know how children have the tendency to wander off! Picking a toddler friendly holiday is the best way to ensure there are dedicated spaces for your kids to play and splash around, so you can completely relax.

Cover Up

Protect their skin by giving them loose fitting t-shirts to wear, as well as a wide-brimmed sun hat to protect their head and neck. Good quality sunglasses are also essential for protecting their eyes against the damaging effects of the sun. Eyes are around 10 times more sensitive to sun damage than our skin and children are more at risk than adults, so make sure their sunglasses have adequate UV protection!

Pack Flotation Devices

Even if your child is only splashing around in a paddling pool, it is wise to keep them safe by giving them flotation devices. Arm bands are perfect as you can slip them on quickly in the morning and there is no risk of them putting them down and running off without them!

These simple steps will ensure your kids stay safe abroad, so you can spend less time worrying and more time relaxing and enjoying your precious holiday!
