eMoney, Ukash and a whole new world

Oh my goodness there is a whole world of money out there I knew nothing about!

Have you heard about eMoney?

I have been looking at Ukash today and  I think its fascinating.  Ukash is eMoney. You treat it exactly like cash but spend it online. Perfect if you don’t have a credit or debit card or don’t want to use your card to pay online. It is totally secure and can be used at 420,000 outlets world wide and in over 55 countries.

How had I not heard about this?

You can get Ukash from petrol stations shops and ATMs and the website has a  handy store locator. You simply exchange your cash for a unique 19-digit Ukash code which you then use for your purchase (and you can get change back as a new code|)

The Ukash code can be used to pay at thousands of websites and you can get prepaid cards and wallets to. Wouldn’t this be a great thing to give to a child as gift so they could shop online within a limit.

I guess the code is like an online voucher.

I would defintely consider this for gifts ! There are some nifty things you can do with your Ukash code too like

Break it  into smaller value codes so you can shop across multiple websites

Combine it adding smaller codes together  to get a single code. Great if you have a number of small value codes and want to buy something more expensive.

Convert it  You can change the currency of your Ukash code, so you can spend your Ukash on more websites. Ideal if your chosen website doesn’t accept your currency

So eMoney is flexible, it is safe, it’s impossible to overspend it and it can be widely used. Is this the way of the future? Quite possibly it is.  Fascinating stuff
