Hello, we’re the Anges bakery and we all have one huge sweet tooth! First of let’s tell you a little bit about ourselves, The Anges bakery was founded in 2011 by Reshmi Bennett upon her return to London from Paris. She trained under several truly amazing Michelin-starred chefs and learnt the art of baking. Reshmi still works in the bakery on a daily basis where she designs every single cake. Together with a small team of staff and exceptional suppliers Anges de Sucre delivers cakes all over London and further afield.
We provide bold, beautiful and totally bonkers cakes.
How to make a delicious cake that won’t cost the earth
To inspire your at home baking on a budget we’ve selected our favourite ingredients and top tips on how to create a delicious moist cake that won’t cost the earth.
Chocolate
Add cocoa or cacao, whichever you prefer for a smooth chocolatey hit. You can add this to your basic cake mix or to a buttercream/ icing sugar topping for a dose of chocolate goodness that will be sure to please. It also won’t break the bank too.
Why not go unique and add some unexpected toppings. Mini doughnuts perhaps? Inspired by our Ghetto Riche Salted Caramel cake.
Salted Caramel
This ingredient is having a moment and for good reason. The contrast of the salt and caramel offers a recognisable flavour that both adults and kids adore. You can buy some Dulche De Leche or make your own at home, it’s cheap and much easier than you would imagine. Add popcorn to this cake for an extra special twist, similar to our ever popular Salted Caramel McDreamy cake:
Jam
The key to your home made cake is the layers, opt for a twist on the classic one layer and stack your cake. We suggest aiming for three to four, as this is easily achievable with a thin base and not too much expertise. These layers also allow you to experiment, why not add a different filling or jam each time? We love an apricot, raspberry and blackcurrant combination, not only for the flavours but the colour combination which reveals itself as you slice into your cake. Giving you a refined rainbow feel, that is both classic and contemporary, ideal for a summer picnic!
We hope this has helped spark up some ideas for your kitchen, the most important thing to remember is to experiment and have fun in order to make a delicious cake that won’t cost the earth . At Agnes we fully enjoy baking our cakes as much as we enjoy eating them too!
