I have been thinking about perfect short breaks in Devon
Perfect short breaks in Devon
Are you on the hunt for perfect short breaks in Devon?
Sometimes you just need to get away for a little refresh and rejuvenation ..not your big 2-week holiday but a little trip away, perhaps a long weekend or a midweek escape. The power of a short break cannot be overemphasised. A change of scene and a change of air can breathe new life into your world and be just so revitalising.
Your short breaks can be as unique as you are; you may want a romantic short break to rekindle your relationship or you may just want some quality time with your family you may simply fancy a few days alone to write that novel you have always dreamed about? A few days off regular, busy life can be a very healthy and rewarding break.
Experiences, it has been proven, bring deeper and more lasting happiness than things, so a little holiday is a wonderful investment in your wellbeing. A short holiday has the power to give you true rest and relaxation. Devon is the perfect location.
Is there anywhere better to take a short break than Devon? No need to fly but you will seriously feel as if you have stepped into a beautiful new landscape.
A great value visit to Devon
Have you been to Devon?
I have to tell you it is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful, diverse and glorious places I have visited in the UK. There is a TV show on at the moment called Devon and Cornwall that explores these 2 gorgeous counties. Honestly, it makes me want to pack my bags jump on a train and get my self down their immediately!
Marsdens have a selection of handpicked holiday cottages perfect for short breaks in Devon and they are great value. Rather than paying 75% of the full weekly cost for a 2-day break, they are now giving you the same break for just 50% of the weekly rate on a number of fabulous holidays. This means you can have a short break at a great price in this lovely area
So what is there to do in Devon on a short break?
There are just so many things you can do on a short break to Devin in a self-catering cottage.
You have the perfect base to have whatever kind of break you want really…there is just so much to see and do.
The moors
This is Keepers Cottage a Mardens property in the heart of Exmoor, the perfect cottage for a romantic getaway. It is set by meadows and woodlands and is actually a beautifully restored barn. Walks and fishing are on the doorstep and there is pony trekking nearby. Plus you would just be a few miles from the coast and some lovely towns of Lynton and Lynmouth where there are craft shops, galleries and lovely restaurants. What a place to be based! It has a woodburning stove too so perfect for cost evenings after a fresh-air filled day out.
The coastline
Devon has an amazing coastline and it ranges dramatically from traditional seaside to wild and rugged. The Admirals beach house is a stylish apartment in Torquay just off the South Devon coast. It has awesome views over the marina, Brixham and along the coast. What a perfect place for a small family or couple to be based to explore the delights of this gorgeous seaside town.
The countryside
Cider cottage sleeps 4 and can be found on the Devon / Cornwall border in the beautiful Devonshire countryside of Bude. visitors can stroll down to the river which borders the farm, to enjoy a picnic or fly fish, there are local chickens too and a wealth of trails to walk. The coast and local towns are just 15 minutes drive away and a location like this really does offer it all. What a relaxing and peaceful place to visit with just so much to offer.
From the moors, countryside, fabulous coastslines to the towns and cities of Devon there are endless things to do.
Do you know I really could go on all day showing you Mardsdens Cottages and telling you about all the different areas of Devon they are situated in and things to do and see in the vicinity? They have cottages with hot tubs, cottages with sea views. luxury townhouses, large farm cottages which can accommodate a bigger family – or several families sharing, basically any kind of accommodation you could wish for to meet your needs.
A short break sounds like rather a wonderful idea to me and Devon is absolutely one of the most beautiful of the UK counties to visit. Have you ever visited Devon for a short break (or a long one?) If you have I would love you to leave me a comment and tell me about your trip there. Where did you go and what did you see?
I am always up for a vacation recommendation!
I do hope you have enjoyed this post on perfect short breaks in Devon
