PKTMNY Review : What we think of the Pocket Money scheme

PKTMNY Review

Well we have been trialling PKTMNY for about a month now and here is what we like  about the online pocket money scheme.

My son loved,  LOVED having his own card and drawing money out of a cash machine. He got a bit worried worried when he read he should shield hi pin and and I had to explain why and then he got all panicky about someone pinching his money ( at this point I did wish I wasn’t having these too grown up conversations.)

My reservations about him having a debit card have largely revolved about making him grow up too fast. After all he is just 8 years old and his mind should be on PLAY above all else I think.

Bizarrely he didn’t like that I had given him a task to earn extra money and thought this was ‘unfair’ and that he wasn’t old enough to have to work ! Hahaha. He is still refusing to do it!!

PKTMNY Review

I think that’s hysterical.

He is however loving seeing how much savings he has. he hasn’t yet decided what he is going to do with all this money but for once he is strangely reluctant to spend his pocket money on little bits and bobs but is really enjoying watching it grow and planning what to spend it on next. That is a great thing and I am delighted the clear visuals at PKTMNY are helping him ‘see’ how his money is saved and spent.

I still have mixed views on it. I think I will disable the cash machine access till he is older but will continue to put larger sums in the PKTMNY account for him so he can see his savings. …and I shall continue to entice him to help me clean out my messy car!

This post is part of a project with BritMums, sponsored by PKTMNY, highlighting it’s launch (The new tool allows parents to easily pay and monitor their children’s pocket money online, whilst allowing their children to earn, save, spend and manage their money in a totally safe and fun way. We have been trialling the service and all thoughts and opinions are our own.
