First and foremost, hiring a venue can be pricey, so why not just invite close family and friends round and host the baby shower at your own home. By doing so, you don’t need to pay an external catering company who charge a fortune to cook all the food. Encourage everyone to get involved with the planning and give each person a task such as a food to make. This will reduce the amount of spends you will have to fork out on buying nibbles and then the guests can each bring something they like to eat.
Looking for some sort of entertainment to keep the guests amused? Let’s face it, everyone loves a good board game and these can be found in numerous charity shops for a good price. Have fun by finding an old game such as Buckaroo, or ‘pin the tail on the donkey’ so the adults can let their hair down old style. And you can even make it relevant to the baby shower with games such as ‘pin the dummy on the baby.’
Baby shower decorations can be bought fairly cheaply and if you know the sex of the expectant little one make sure to tie this into the theme with blue or yellow streamers, balloons and confetti. Show off your creativity and make the table centre pieces yourself with odd bits and bobs from around the house. And print off family pictures and stick them all up around the home to give it that personalised feeling.
