Artificial Lawn: Frequently Asked Questions Answered

Is artificial grass safe for children and pets?

Absolutely! Artificial grass is made from non-toxic, soft material that is totally child and pet friendly. Often it is manufactured using a combination of nylon, polyethylene and polypropylene, all of which can be found in day-to-day products including food-grade packaging.

Fake lawns are soft, rather than scratchy, which makes them perfect for kids and pets to roll about on without fear of harm. Furthermore, many artificial lawns can be laid with a shock pad or foam underlay that meet European Standard to protect your little ones from injury if they fall from height. That means if you’ve got play equipment such as climbing frames and trampolines, you can rest assured that children are protected should they come a cropper!

You can order some free samples from the artificial grass group  so you can see how great they are.

What are the advantages of artificial grass?

The first, and arguably the biggest, advantage of an artificial lawn is that they are low maintenance and cost-effective. With no mowing, weeding, feeding or hoeing required it’ll save you serious time on your garden maintenance tasks. Not to mention the monetary savings you’ll make from not having to water or repair it.

They’re also ideal for families that make good use of the garden all year around. They do not get muddy or churned up after rain, so muddy footprints won’t be tracked through the house. And they look great all-year around as they are generally weed-free and don’t dry out in hot summers.

Do dogs dislike artificial lawns?

For the most part, pets treat artificial grass in the same way they treat natural lawns – for the most part they probably won’t notice the difference!

It’s likely that, as a dog owner, you’ll feel the benefit of an artificial lawn even more so as you’ll never have to worry about muddy paws or your furry friend ruining the lawn by digging it up in a bid to find buried treasure!

How do you take care of artificial grass?

Artificial lawns require very little maintenance, however there are a few things you can do to keep it looking good throughout the year. If your lawn is ringed by trees or bushes, it’s a good idea to sweep away any debris that might fall onto the grass. Not only does it keep it looking neat and tidy, it also prevents any surface weeds from sprouting up.

If you have pets that do their business on the lawn it is advisable to remove any faeces as soon as possible and hose down frequently used areas. There are deodorising products on the market also that can keep the lawn smelling fresh. Unlike natural lawns, urine will have no effect on artificial lawns and will simply drain away through the perforated backing.

Where can artificial lawns be laid?
